I like the shape of the sedan version, I just can’t get on board with the hatchback.

That generation Malibu is pathetic. A perfect example of why GM went bankrupt. My wife and I had one until we traded it for our CX5 in November 2012. Damn car constantly had problems and they were always troublesome to repair. Never anything simple. It was so cheaply made. That’s what I hated most. It felt like it’d fall apart any minute.

Sideview mirrors are great! And bed caps have their uses.
The only thing I liked about the Maxx was that the rear seats could slide forward and back and recline. That, and that it was a hatchback version of a mainstream midsize sedan, the last appealing one if which I can think of was the Mazda6.

Ohhhh the Mazda 6 wagon was tasty cakes. Though I’m a little shocked at the feedback of this car... it’s just goofy is all. What’s wrong with goofy?

I think the rear is actually fairly OK. The front is terrible., like a knock-off or cartoon version of a Saturn or something.
I’m glad there don’t seem to be many of these left on the road.
Yes, the Mazda6 in sedan, 5-door, and wagon form was a delight (I’m stuck with a sedan, but my wife deliberately chose hers as a sedan), and I’m champing at the bit at the opportunity to get a 5-door (more acceptable to Mrs. Boxrocket) or a wagon (almost entirely unacceptable to Mrs. Boxrocket unless something happens to her car and she can have the one I have now that I bought in April). Not only for the style (subtle yet excellent change from sedan to 5-door), bit for convenience, cargo loading and unloading, and the oft-overlooked rear wiper, which I miss desperately.

My wife loves hatches but dislikes wagons (except for the Tercel wagon). I’m considering suggesting we get a Protégé as her next car. That will be competing against the Fit, Soul, Matrix, and Vibe. I so want another hatchback but my days of multi-vehicle ownership are shelfed.

I own a 2005 LS. Love the versatility. Not going to say I’m proud of the looks, fit & finish or crappy electrics...but I own it and it only has 85K miles.
It was a nice fit for someone who previously drove pickup trucks but wanted a more practical vehicle. Incidentally, I now own another truck (a Tacoma) and have since given the Maxx over to my gf after her car was deemed to have lived its useful life.
